Hello, crispy! These homemade fried Wonton Chips are easy to make and impossible to resist, with a light and crispy crunch. Add them to salads and rice bowls as a crispity garnish, or serve them as a side or appetizer with sweet & sour sauce for dipping!
Ingredients
1package(12 ounces) wonton wrappers
vegetable oil,for frying
1teaspoonkosher salt
Instructions
Pour oil into a deep, heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven to about 2" deep, and heat over medium heat to 360°F. Clip a kitchen thermometer to the side of the pot to monitor the temperature.
Stack 4-5 wonton wrappers on top of each other. Then cut the wrappers into ¾" wide strips. Cover wontons with a towel while oil continues to heat up.
When oil is ready, carefully add a handful of wonton strips and stir gently with a spider strainer or large slotted spoon to separate. Take care to not overcrowd the pot. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the strips are a light golden brown. Note that the strips will darken a bit more after you remove them from the pot.
Use a spider strainer to remove the fried strips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt to taste. Repeat with the remaining wonton wrapper strips.
Serve as a snack with sweet & sour sauce for dipping, with salads and soups, or with our favorite egg roll in a bowl!
