What is Pasta Fazool?

This easy Italian-inspired, one-pot recipe pairs tender pasta, creamy white beans, and ground beef in a savory tomato-based broth.

What You'll Need

You'll only need a few simple ingredients to make this easy recipe, so let's round them up and get started!

Cook the Onion and Garlic

Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven, sauté onion for 2-3 minutes, then add garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Cook the Meat

Season ground beef with salt, pepper, and red pepper, break it apart, and cook until browned and no longer pink.

Add the Veggies

Stir in the diced carrots and celery, and cook until soft. Then stir in the tomatoes, and let simmer.

Bring to a Boil

Add the chicken broth and bring the soup to a boil.

Season

Stir the dried oregano, basil, and marjoram into the pot. Season with salt & black pepper to taste.

Add the Pasta

While still boiling, add the dried pasta and simmer until the pasta is al dente, about 8-10 minutes.

Add the Beans

Stir the beans into the soup, and let them get warm.

Enjoy!

Ladle soup into individual bowls and garnish with Parmesan and fresh basil and/or parsley.
