½cupfreshly squeezed orange juice
orange zest from 1 large orange
¼cuphoney
3tablespoonsDijon mustard
1tablespoonbalsamic vinegar
½teaspooncinnamon
¼teaspoonground cloves
3teaspoonscornstarch
Instructions
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, orange juice and zest, honey, Dijon, balsamic vinegar, cinnamon, and cloves. Bring to a low boil and cook until brown sugar has melted and is no longer grainy.
Transfer about ¼ cup of the glaze mixture to a small cup or bowl, add the cornstarch, and whisk briskly to combine evenly. Then slowly pour cornstarch slurry into the bubbling glaze mixture, whisking constantly to incorporate evenly. Cook for up to 5 minutes, or until glaze is thickened to your liking. If you'd like the glaze to be even thicker, repeat making another cornstarch slurry, and whisk in just a bit at a time, until glaze is thickened to your liking.
To use on Crockpot Ham: Transfer finished ham from the slow cooker to a large cutting board, cut side down. Liberally brush the finished glaze over the ham. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
To store: Place orange-brown sugar ham glaze in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 1 week.To reheat: Add the glaze to a saucepan set over medium-low heat. Heat gently, stirring often, until it's brushable again. If it's too thick, you can loosen it up with a bit more orange juice or some water. If it's too thin, create a bit more slurry with cornstarch again, and whisk it back into the warmed glaze on the stovetop until it's thickened to your liking. To freeze: Place orange-brown sugar ham glaze in a freezer-safe container or bag and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before using.
