This Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is simple to make, with just a few ingredients. Enjoy this Starbucks copycat iced coffee drink whenever the craving strikes, without leaving your house!
Add ½ cup of ice to a pint jar, followed by espresso and brown sugar simple syrup. Cover tightly and shake for 20 seconds.
If you're going to use the jar as your glass: (so you don't lose any of the froth created from shaking!), add a bit more fresh ice to the jar. Then pour the oat milk over the top. If you're going to use a different glass: pour the shaken espresso WITH THE ICE into a new 16 ounce glass (quickly scrape out any of the froth in the jar, into the new glass), add a bit more fresh ice, then pour the oat milk over the top.
Add a dash of cinnamon to the top, and enjoy! Starbucks does not mix this drink further - when they hand it to you, it's very dark at the bottom with the espresso and brown sugar syrup, with the lighter oat milk layer settling in over the top. It's striking. But when we drink it, we do give it a good stir to incorporate the layers.
Notes
Espresso: If you don't have an espresso maker, use a Nespresso machine or moka pot for the best espresso flavor. Or use bottled cold brew espresso, super strong-brewed coffee, or instant espresso made according to the manufacturer's instructions.Oat Milk: We've tried a number of different oat milk varieties/brands for iced coffee drinks, and so far our favorite has been Chobani Oat "Plain - Extra Creamy". We also like Oat-ly "The Original - Full Fat", although it doesn't froth as well when we're adding foam to other coffee drinks.
