Cook the Rice

Cook wild rice according to package directions until it pumps up and splits open. Then drain excess water and set aside.

Cook the Meat

Cook ground pork and beef in a large soup pot over medium heat, breaking into small pieces, for 5 minutes. Then add in onion and garlic.

Add Remaining Ingredients

Stir in the cabbage, carrot, beef broth, tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, bay leaves, salt, pepper, basil, oregano, and marjoram.

Simmer

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes. Then add the rice, simmer for 5 more minutes, and turn off heat.

Make the Garnish

Heat water, butter, and salt in a small saucepan. Add shredded carrots and cook for 2-5 minutes. Then remove from heat.

Garnish and Serve

Ladle hot soup into individual bowls. Then add carrot garnish to the top of the soup, followed by a dollop of sour cream and a bit of fresh dill.
