What is a Chantilly Cake?

This easy recipe features two layers of tender vanilla cake, fresh berries, and the dreamiest vanilla mascarpone whipped cream frosting!

What You'll Need

You'll only need a few simple ingredients to make this easy recipe, so let's round them up and get started!

Whisk the Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Cream the Butter and Sugar

Cream softened butter and granulated sugar in a stand mixer bowl with the paddle attachment until light and fluffy.

Beat in Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla.

Add the Flour and Milk

Add ⅓ of the dry ingredients, followed by ½ of the milk. Then add another ⅓ of the dry ingredients, the rest of the milk, and lastly, the rest of the dry ingredients.

Add to Cake Pans

Divide the batter equally between the prepared cake pans.

Bake the Cakes

Bake for 25-28 minutes, then let cool for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and let cool completely.

Make the Chantilly Cream

Mix mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Gradually add in the cream and beat until stiff peaks form.

Assemble the Cake

Place one layer of cake on a serving plate, spread Chantilly cream evenly, add berries, and place the second layer on top.

Frost the Outside

Spread a thin layer of frosting over the top and sides of the cake with the remaining Chantilly cream.

Let Chill

Decorate the top with a few fresh berries for garnish. Then refrigerate the cake.


Slice and serve as desired.
