What’s The Best Chocolate To Use?

I recommend using either white chocolate almond bark or white chocolate candy melts. These melt smoothly and easily and adhere to the berries well. They also keep their molded shape, and won’t melt as easily as white chocolate chips.

If you want to incorporate some white chocolate chips, melt them very gently, so as not to scorch. Then combine this with some melted white chocolate almond bark or white chocolate candy melts.

Decorating ideas

These white chocolate dipped strawberries can be decorated in many ways – not just with the blue sugar. You can easily adapt these to any holiday or celebration by changing the color of the sugar or switching up the toppings. Here are a few ideas:

Can I Make These in Advance?

Due to the moisture in strawberries, I recommend making these no more than a few hours before serving.

I tried making them a day ahead of time once and didn’t have great results – the blue sugar started to get weepy. They still tasted delicious but didn’t look quite as beautiful.

But these strawberries don’t take much effort or time to make, so just make them a few hours before party time. Then store them in the fridge, uncovered. If you place a cover on them, it will trap moisture inside.

Ingredients

  • strawberries
  • white candy melts or white chocolate bark If you want bright white color, look for those labeled “super white” or “bright white”.
  • blue tinted sugar

Instructions

  • Melt the white chocolate bark or candy melts in the microwave in short intervals, stirring frequently, taking care to not scorch. Or use a double boiler method on the stovetop.
  • Dip the bottom 2/3 of the strawberry into the melted candy melts/white chocolate, leaving a stripe of red strawberry showing at the top.
  • Then dip just the tip of the berry into the blue sugar.
  • Place dipped strawberries on a rimmed baking sheet that is lined with wax or parchment paper. To speed up the hardening process, place the baking sheet in the fridge for a quicker set. Store refrigerated, uncovered.

Notes

Due to the moisture in the berries, I do not recommend making these more than a few hours before serving, as the blue sugar will start to get "weepy".
