The Best Fluffy Pumpkin Spiced Butter

Give your family and friends a little extra lovin’ from your kitchen this fall with Fluffy Whipped Pumpkin Pie Spiced Butter!

Our daughters are crazy for pumpkin-spiced EVERYTHING. They especially love it when Starbucks announces their seasonal pumpkin cream cold brew is available. They request this fall treat, on repeat.

So one thing I like to make for them at home is this irresistible whipped pumpkin butter. It’s sweet and luscious, and spiced perfectly with the flavors of pumpkin pie. It elevates literally everything that it touches!

What is Whipped Butter?

Fluffy whipped flavored butters are a favorite around here (check out this recipe with fresh lemon and vanilla beans), and they’re super easy to make. It’s literally what the name says – regular butter that’s whipped ferociously until it’s light and fluffy – then usually flavored or spiced.

To make whipped butter, simply toss butter into the bowl of a stand mixer, along with a little milk, and let it whip. The butter’s volume is expanded by the milk and air being whipped into it, making the end product super fluffy and easy to spread. The texture is so fun!

For this recipe, I added some pumpkin purée, a little powdered sugar for sweetness, gorgeous vanilla bean seeds, and the spices we all know and love from pumpkin pie. It’s one beautiful little spread!

Serving Suggestions

There are so many ways to enjoy this whipped butter.

Serve it with homemade popovers or your favorite breads or muffins. It’s pretty wonderful on pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, pancakes, waffles, and French toast. My family has tested all these combinations extensively. Just trust us; you can’t go wrong with this fluffy spiced butter!

How to Store

Whipped pumpkin butter will always have the lightest, fluffiest texture right after it’s made. But any left over will keep well for a week or so in the fridge. It should be kept in a covered container or scooped out and wrapped in plastic.

Before serving, leave it out on the counter for 20 to 30 minutes so you have the smooth, spreadable texture.

Can You Freeze Whipped Butter?

Yes, this pumpkin pie whipped butter freezes wonderfully. I recommend using a cookie scoop to form portions, then wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe baggie or container. Or place it on plastic wrap and form it into a log shape, and then freeze it in a freezer-safe baggie or container.

Thaw in the fridge overnight, then set on the counter to bring to room temperature before serving.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup milk at room temperature
  • 1 cup Land O Lakes® Salted Butter softened to room temperature
  • cup canned pumpkin purée not pumpkin pie filling, thoroughly mixed
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ¾ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • vanilla bean seeds scraped from half of a vanilla bean

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat room-temperature milk and butter on low to medium-low speed until incorporated. This may take a bit for it to come together, but just be patient. Then turn speed up to medium-high and beat for 5 minutes, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl a couple times, until butter is light and fluffy.
  • Add remaining ingredients and beat on low speed until just incorporated, and then turn speed up to medium-high and beat for 1 more minute.
  • Serve with warm popovers or your favorite breads or muffins. This is also wonderful on pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, pancakes, waffles, and French toast.
